Tender Ornamental Grasses

Stipa tenuissima (Nasella tenuissima)

Feather Grass, Ponytail Grass
Mexican Feather or Ponytail Grass is the common name for this very fine textured light green grass. Stipa is great planted en masse or used in containers, and grows 18" tall. It has been wintering over for us here in zone 6 when we grow it in a sandy soil. Wait to cut back old foliage until mid spring, and you might be able to just tease out the old growth.
