Our nursery is in a garden…

Wander the paths to discover new plants and get ideas on planting combinations. Once inspired, browse our sales yard where you will find an array of uncommon and rare trees, shrubs, perennials, and cottage garden annuals. Our greenhouse is stocked with exotic succulents and uncommon but easy to grow houseplants.

NOTE: We do not use neonicotinoids and employ organic growing methods on our property.

Our Trees and Shrubs

You’ll find the unexpected here and in our gardens, you’ll see many mature specimens. You’ll experience how trees and shrubs impart visual and temporal dimensions, frame space and provide shelter. Japanese Clethra, Seven Son Flower Tree and Big Leaf Magnolia are but a few of the unusual trees and shrubs we grow. Come sit under our 200+ year old Swamp White Oak to feel the presence and wisdom of trees.

Perennials for Shade & Sun

We have built a distinguished reputation for growing uncommon perennials that are not seen in every garden center. Whether you need plants for sunny, shady, dry or wet areas, we have selections that will thrive in your situation. For example among our excellent shade plant collection, you’ll find choice Hellebores, Solomon’s Seal, Epimedium, Ferns and much, much more. Selected forms of native plants that attract pollinators and butterflies are in good supply. We say no to neonicotinoids.

We do Succulents Well

We do succulents well….very well. These drought tolerant easy-care plants are often the focus of the many container plantings we display about the gardens. For more than 20 years we have been building our collection…we visit southern California annually to source unusual tender forms for houseplants and container gardening. Word has it that we have the best selection of both tender and hardy forms in New England.

Fine Containers

An elegant planted container is a garden in and of itself. We think of containers as striking architectural elements in the garden, where they can provide focal points and accent entryways. Visit our pottery level to find unique and handsome ceramic and terra cotta containers, plus quality stoneware, statuary, birdbaths, one-of-a-kind stone basins, and custom stone benches.
