Container Perennials

Anisodontea x hypomandarum

African Mallow
Our form of Cape Mallow is not the Proven winner Hybrid, but a free blooming strain we purchased years ago, perhaps from Allen Haskell. This old fashioned African Mallow iOS great in containers and garden beds, forming a little shrub which produces multitudes of 1" pink blossoms enhanced by cranberry-colored centers. Anisodontea blooms on new growth, so keep shearing back to promote new floral displays. It is a good subject for a floral topiary. Expect plants to grow 2-3', or more in a season, and can become a 4-6' shrub where it is winter hardy.
