Yes, the botanical name is a mouthful. Commonly called Amole or False Agave, this variegated form with creamy yellow centered succulent leaves makes a stunning (and gentle compared to Agave) specimen in containers in cold climates. We use younger plants as a vertical thrust in containers, especially with other succulents and they are quite easy to winter over for next year’s display. Plants bloom when mature, usually in late winter: 5-6′ stems erupt with branches of pendant pale pink/yellow bells that would be a hummingbird’s dream.
