Description
Normally Coneflowers are found in shades of pink, purple or white, but this species of Echinacea has yellow reflexed petals surrounding bronze purple cones. (Since Echinacea species cross pollinate, Yellow Coneflower has been crossed with the other species resulting in a range of non typical coloring.) A favorite of many butterflies, it is quite deer resistant.
Echinaea paradoxa is a somewhat rare species found in the Ozarks, and is a more modest grower than Echinacea purpurea. Plants grow 2-3′ tall and prefer medium to dry soil conditions.
