We  have, at last, found the trick to propagating this bodacious Japanese Bush Clover. Arching stems are laden with white pea blossoms in September which will keep the pollinators happy.  In our zone 6 climate we treat it as a perennial, cutting back the woody stems to the ground in spring. Fear not, once the days are warm again, new shoots emerge and stems each heights of 4-6′. Lespedeza wants a sharp draining soil, and is most appreciated where its cascading branches can be viewed to spilling over slopes or retaining walls.
