Ophiopogon planiscapus nigrescens

Black Mondo Grass is a not a grass but a member of the lily family, grown for its striking year-round, almost black 10-12″ foliage. Leaves gets renewed in late spring, and small pinky white flowers appear in mid summer. It does best in a protected spot in colder zones, but can add essential dark contrast to plants with golden foliage. We like to use Black Mondo in pots for dramatic effect.
