Description
Add festive flavor to your summer garden with this southwestern native, commonly called Mexican Hats (so called because of the prominent cone that resembles a sombrero). Ratibida grows 15-24″ tall and about 18″ wide, and does well in poor dry soil (don’t try to be nice and plant it in rich loam). It will reward you with multitudes of coppery red orange flowers for cutting in mid summer, and may naturalize if it is happy.
