New Shrubs

Indigofera amblyantha

Chinese Indigo.
A long blooming fast growing shrub bearing erect racemes of pink legume flowers, beginning in June and continuing through the summer. We've seen Chinese Indigo pruned to a central leader and grown as a small 6-7' tree, but this takes diligent attention since it suckers so vigorously. Grow in a well drained soil in full sun. Plants are drought tolerant once established. If left to sucker it can spread to 8' or more. Plants may get die back in zone 6 but trim back dead wood and plants will quicky rebound.
