Shade Shrubs

Enkianthus campanulatus 'Red Bells'

Red vein Enkianthus
An indispensable multi-season shrub, with spring blossoms, compact habit and amazing fall color, 'Red Bells' is a great companion plant for rhododendrons and spring shade perennials. Distinctive drooping clusters of red bells are born in mid-late spring, and the medium green foliage develops intense golden yellow to red tones in autumn. Plants are compact, growing rather slowly to 6-8' tall and up to 6' wide. Enkianthus is deer resistant, and enjoys an acidic soil enriched with humus and that has good drainage.
